Welcome to the website of the Mayhemirc IRC network
Welcome
Mayhemirc is a less official internet relay chat (irc) network, derived from a well organised and verbally clean net. By mentioning 'derived' is meant that it was inspired by, and in theory founded with a little knowledge from, the net mentioned before. The manor of writing used when compiling the part posted above, read through, and interpreted using common sense, feels a little like it should indicate Mayhemirc not being 'well organised', though it is. The difference between Mayhemirc and most other irc-nets just lies in the fact it does not try to be 'clean' and 'tidy', for it does not care it'll never be the internet's #1 irc-network. Yes, yes.. we do have all the facilities every net has, like NickServ, ChanServ, MemoServ.. but think about it: why would someone call his net 'Mayhem'irc?
V-HOST
At Mayhemirc everyone can get a permanent v-host (virtual host) to disguise the original hostname he/she is connecting from, and/or just for fun reasons. If you would like to use such a v-host, just join #VHost and drop your desired v-host together with the password you want it to be protected with. Once done, you'll be provided with a string like: /mode [nickname] +h some.vhost.example [password]. You should place it as the FIRST command to be performed after connecting, before joining any channel.
Services
Mayhemirc has the following services available for users: NickServ, MemoServ, and ChanServ. Do: /(servicename) help, for example: /nickserv help to get some instructions about how to use a specific service. Global network announcements/notifications are made through our OperServ bot: 'MWorld'.
Chatroom registration
When having a chatroom at Mayhemirc, you can register it at the ChanServ providing some extra features. After registering your channel, you will become owner of it, which means you will automatically get ChanOp status (+o) every time you identify yourself at the NickServ and join your channel. It also gives you the possibility to add fellow operators, who can help you manage your channel. Though, registering for ANY service at Mayhemirc is optional.
In order to register for ChanServ, you need to be registered at the NickServ first, so the service can identify you. This means your nickname will be owned and used by you only. Do: "/nickserv help" (without quotes) inside your irc-client to get some text-based help from the service.
To receive help text from the ChanServ, do: "/chanserv help".
Do not panic when you don't succeed operating these services, the Mayhemirc staff will be eager to help you. Join: #Support to get in touch with our IRCops.
